UNDP hands over complete PCR UNIVERSAL/VIRAL kits for the collection of samples for COVID-19 to the National Institute of Public Health purchased with funds by the Governments of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Switzerland, Norway, and Austria

October 15, 2020

The Governments of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Switzerland, Norway, and Austria, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, continue to donate testing equipment for COVID-19. The latest donation, which was handed over today to the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (NIPHK) and the Ministry of Health include 24 packages of PCR UNIVERSAL/VIRAL COVID-19 sample collection kits containing 12,000 pieces.

The pandemic has shifted the  focus of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo and its longtime partners fighting the COVID-19. Since the outbreak, with the generous contribution from development partners, we have been able to continuously support Kosovo institutions to overcome this latest global challenge. We have been working around the clock to reduce and prevent further spread of the pandemic,  standing together with the people of Kosovo in these times of need.

This latest donation of testing equipment reconfirms our joint strong and continued partnership with health institutions, the belief that we are stronger together in the fight against COVID-19, and  yet another excellent example of an effective response towards the crisis.

Working at the heart of UN Kosovo Team, UNDP in Kosovo has been supporting the people and institutions of Kosovo to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic since the outbreak, focusing particularly on the most vulnerable. We have rapidly shifted focus, responding swiftly and efficiently and reorienting our programme to assist Kosovo’s efforts to stop the spread of the virus, helping to protect people from the pandemic and its impacts, respond during the outbreak, and recover from the economic and social impacts in the months to come.
