UNDP donated protective items to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Internal Affairs

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, in immediate response to COVID-19 and its continuous support to Kosovo institutions and Kosovo people during the pandemic, handed over today a donation of protective items to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The donation to the MLSW and other institutions under this Ministry consists of 1500 protective K95 masks and 500 alcohol-based hand sanitizers while , for the needs of MLSW staff and other institutions under MLSW, while the donation delivered to MIA includes 1000 protective masks K95 and 1000 alcohol-based sanitizers.

The protective items handed over to the MLSW are dedicated to the Ministry’s essential staff and for the needs of the Elderly Care Home in Prishtinë/Priština and Special Institute in Shtime/Štimlje, to ensure their safety while at work during these difficult times.

The donation to MIA is dedicated to staff who work at the Department for Reintegration of Repatriated Persons, the Asylum Accommodation Centre and the Reception Offices at the airport and other border offices.

Valbona Bogujevci, Assistant Resident Representative at UNDP Kosovo, who handed over the donations to Lulzim Ejupi General Secretary at MIA and Feim Osmani, Director of the Department of Finance and General Services at MLSW, stated: “UNDP continues to support the Kosovo institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist them to deliver their services as effectively as possible. We, believe that together we will overcome even this challenge and continue to work with our Kosovo partners to build better lives for all”.

Working at the heart of UN Kosovo Team, UNDP in Kosovo has been supporting the people and institutions of Kosovo to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic since the outbreak, focusing particularly on the most vulnerable. We have rapidly shifted focus, responding swiftly and efficiently and reorienting our programme to assist Kosovo’s efforts to stop the spread of the virus, helping to protect people from the pandemic and its impacts, respond during the outbreak, and recover from the economic and social impacts in the months to come.
