Turning passion for visual arts into a profession

August 26, 2020

Berat Ramadani, a 20-year-old from Prishtinë/Priština, has always been passionate for visual arts, especially photography. He dreamt of turning his talent into a profession but his passion, for a long time, remained just that, a dream.

Fortunately, everything changed at the beginning of 2019 when he registered as a jobseeker and  decided to apply for the Wage Subsidy Programme, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW) – Kosovo Employment Agency (KEA) and benefited from the programme.

He is now employed by D.P.Z.Foto "Nikon" in Prishtinë/Priština as a photographer and works diligently and with passion every day.

“I am very happy that I’m finally doing what I love and slowly building my professional experience as a photographer", says Berat.

He has now more than a year of experience and has been engaged to cover important events. He fondly remembers taking pictures of the arrival of the England National Team in Kosovo, for the England-Kosovo football match in November of last year.

UNDP, in cooperation with MLSW-KEA, is continuously increasing its support for the jobseekers in Kosovo, through different programmes, with the aim of promoting sustainable employment, helping jobseekers to set up their business ideas and also providing support with other programmes within the active labour market measures.

On 6 August, UNDP, in cooperation with MLSW-KEA, announced the Self-Employment Programme, The Wage-Subsidy Programme and On-The-Job Training Programme for repatriated jobseekers in Kosovo. Around 500 repatriated jobseekers will have the chance to benefit from the programmes announced.
