The municipality of Vushtrri/Vučitrn, Kosovo Employment Agency and UNDP handed certificates and visited beneficiaries of active labour market programmes

The Municipality of Vushtrri/Vučitrn and the Kosovo Employment Agency in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, through the Active Labor Market Programme 2, formally handed  certificates to the beneficiaries of the Internship Programme on 12 February. Certificates were delivered to the recently graduated jobseekers who were part of the active labour market  measures with the aim to support them in finding sustainable employment solutions.

Present at the ceremony were Mr. Xhafer Tahiri, Mayor of Vushtrri/Vučitrn, Mr. Drin Haraçia, General Director of the Employment Agency and Ms. Valbona Bogujevci, Assistant UNDP Resident Representative in Kosovo where they awarded certificates to interns who have completed internship programme in private enterprises and public institutions under the internship programme.

The purpose of the internship  programme is to enable the unemployed, graduates of higher education institutions, by offering them the opportunity to attend a six-month internship in private sector enterprises and public institutions in order  support sustainable employment in Kosovo.

On this occasion, in the framework of cooperation between the Municipality of Vushtrri/Vučitrn, the Employment Agency and UNDP, on the implementation of Active Labour Market Programmes, visits were organized to beneficiary businesses under the Wage Subsidy Programme and  Self-employment programme, who have just started their own businesses with the support of self-employment programme.

During 2019, UNDP, in cooperation with the Employment Agency and the Municipality of Vushtrri/ Vučitrn, supported 126  beneficiaries through active labour market programmes. These include: 36 new start-up businesses under the Self-Employment Programme; 34 new jobs with a one-year employment contract through a wage subsidy scheme;  26 on-the-job training in private sector companies and 30 young graduates have benefited from the internship programme.
