Sustainable Employment Reintegration of Repatriated Citizens

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW) are undertaking an exciting new joint initiative benefiting sustainable employment integration of repatriated citizens.

All public and private sector enterprises, non-governmental organisations and institutions, seeking new labour may benefit from the employment assistance schemes, subject to fulfilling the criteria:

• Employers must be rightfully registered with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI)
• Employers must agree with the Memorandum of Understanding with UNDP and MLSW
• Employers must accept workers registered as jobseekers with Municipal and Regional Employment Centres

Participating institutions shall be financially compensated.

All currently unemployed repatriated persons interested in gaining vital skills to (re)enter Kosovo's labour market are eligible to benefit from the programmes, subject to fulfilling the criteria:

• Applicants should be aged 18-40
• Applicants should be long-term unemployed
• Applicants must be registered job seekers
• Applicants must be repatriated citizens, departed before 28 July 20010

Application Process:

• Interested employers and job seekers should apply at the nearest Municipal or Regional Employment Centres
• UNDP and MLSW will review all applications and only short-listed applicants will be contacted

The employment programmes offered are an on-the-job training scheme, an internship scheme and a wage subsidy scheme, connecting job seekers with what's right for them.

Criteria for on-the-job training applicants:

• Applicants must have limited or no work experience
• Applicants should be unskilled
• Criteria for internship scheme applicants:
• Applicants must have a Bachelor degree
• Applicants must have limited or no work experience in their field of education

Criteria for wage subsidy applicants:

• Applicants must be skilled
• Applicants must have previous work experience
• Applicants should have completed high school or vocational training

Applicants from families with many unemployed members, readmitted minority communities, from single-mother headed families, and those unemployed since repatriation are encouraged to apply.

As is the case with all our programmes, criteria exemptions may apply.  The initiative is about assistance, not exclusion!
