United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW), and funded by the Ministry of Trade and Industry/Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA), held a certification ceremony for the internship programme candidates.
The programme, which launched a few months ago, gave more than 130 recent university graduates the opportunity to carry out a two month internships in various private sector companies throughout Kosovo. During the ceremony, certificates were handed over to a selection of exceptional interns by representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, KIESA, and UNDP. Following, business owners will share their experiences in employing candidates through this scheme.
Talking about how they embraced the internship programme, the director of human resources at Al-Trade company shared the company’s experience in hiring candidates through this scheme. "Candidates hired through this programme have demonstrated an excellent performance, working closely with our staff, they have given their best in performing their duties and responsibilities," said Artan Ramaj.
Other private business owners also acknowledged the benefits for both, the interns and companies emphasizing that some of them even receive permanent employment.
Moreover, one of the certified interns, welcoming the certificate, stated that "these programmes enable young people, recent university graduates, to demonstrate in practice the knowledge acquired during their studies, thus opening the doors for a successful start of their careers."
UNDP’s Active Labour Market Programmes that carried the scheme, continues to provide support to Kosovo citizens, with particular focus on vulnerable young men and women, to find a job or establish a new venture through supporting Kosovo institutions in designing strategic, evidence-based policies and programmes, and providing on-the-job training, as well as grants and consultancy to foster self-employment opportunities.
