UNDP Kosovo jointly with Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative supports participation of junior anti-corruption practitioners in Romania
UNDP Kosovo’s Anti – Corruption Programme, supported generously by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), aims to strengthen institutional transparency, accountability and integrity, with a particular focus on empowering citizens and access to information. The programme works directly with central and local government authorities, the judiciary as well as civil society and the citizens themselves.
Moreover, the programme seeks to support Kosovo’s participation in regional mechanisms on anti – corruption to foster regional collaboration and exchange experience with line counterparts. UNDP is currently collaborating with Regional Anti – Corruption Initiative (RAI) to provide Kosovo anti – corruption bodies with a general framework for coordination, optimization of efforts and establishment of a dialogue with the RAI member states involved in the fight against corruption.
RAI was initially adopted in Sarajevo in February 2000, as Stability Pact Anti-corruption Initiative (SPAI), to address corruption – one of the most serious threats to the recovery and development of the South East European countries. Currently the Initiative consists of 9 member countries from the region – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia.
One of the joint initiatives between UNDP Kosovo and RAI is to support the capacity building of junior anti-corruption practitioners from Kosovo in regional events. Currently UNDP Kosovo is supporting the participation of a prosecutor and a judge from Kosovo in the RAI Summer School “Financial Investigations and Asset Recovery” that is being organized in Sibiu, Romania. Summer School is being organized jointly with National Office for Crime Prevention and for Assets Recovery of Romania and National Institute for Magistracy of Romania.
