A high level meeting took place in Pristina in which UNDP results, achieved during the period 2011 – 2013, were presented.
"We seek to bring recognition and visibility to good examples from Kosovo on its successful trajectory from post-conflict recovery to its current path towards sustainable development. The story of Kosovo's evolution, in which the UN, including UNDP, played an important role, can greatly benefit the rest of the world." With these words Osnat Lubrani, UNDP Resident Representative opened high level meeting that took place in Pristina in which UNDP results, achieved during the period 2011 - 2013, were presented.
The meeting was organized together with the Kosovo Ministry of European Integration and Minister Vlora Çitaku co-hosted the event with Osnat Lubrani that gathered more than 100 representatives of Kosovo's central and local Government, donors, international community, civil society, media, and other stakeholders.
On this occasion, Minister Çitaku said: "The Government of the Republic of Kosovo highly appreciates the work that UNDP is doing in Kosovo with the purpose of combating poverty and contribution in a sustainable development, including the fulfillment of the Millennium Goals. Over the last few years UNDP has supported many important processes in Kosovo, such as: investment in human capital, creation of employment, public administration reform etc. During the last few weeks, the Ministry of European Integration, on behalf of the Government of Kosovo, and UNDP are working in completing the Memorandum of Understanding which will further institutionalize the development of the dialogue between the two institutions, and will contribute to further harmonization of the work of UNDP with priorities of the Republic of Kosovo. In the field of European Integration, UNDP has recently supported our institutions in exchanging experiences with the Republic of Croatia through organizing a number of seminars in Prishtina and Zagreb. Furthermore, UNDP will support the process of negotiating the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Kosovo and the European Union, through the engagement of the former Deputy Chief Negotiator of Croatia".
Further to programme presentation of results, UNDP partners recapitulated the collaboration with UNDP and its support in furthering the work of Kosovo society towards long-term development.
The work of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo is guided by a Kosovo Programme Action Plan 2011-2015 that identifies priorities and the expected results for each area. This meeting was devoted to presentation and discussion of results achieved during the first two years. The conclusions and recommendations emerging from this review, conducted with partner institutions, donors and stakeholders, will serve to update or adjust UNDP Kosovo programme framework for the coming years.
