Strengthening Disaster Resilience of at Risk Municipalities
The overall aim of the Strengthening Disaster Resilience of at Risk Municipalities project is to strengthen the capacities of vulnerable and at-risk municipalities to cope with natural hazards and disasters.
What do we want to achieve
The overall aim of the project is to strengthen the capacities of vulnerable and at-risk municipalities to cope with natural hazards and disasters.
The project has been supporting initiatives to facilitate and enhance coordination and communication between authorities at the central and local level.
UNDP has also helped at risk municipalities in developing action plans to ensure early recovery after potential disasters.
Together with local partners, the project has taken various actions to inform citizens and families on how to protect themselves against natural hazards and disasters, including heavy snow fall, avalanches, and earthquakes.
UNDP is now developing a mobile/smart phone application which enables real time hazard mapping and crowd sourcing, allowing public institutions and citizens to engage more effectively in reducing disaster risks, manage emergencies and develop community resilience.
